The Ix belong to a race of bizarre Demon/Automaton hybrids. They are the lowest among their kind and rarely survive past their larval state to become larger, more dangerous specimens. This fact may be due to their tendency to attack enemies by colliding with them and exploding.
Fortunately, a Sorceror's Force Shield can withstand an Ix explosion. However, the Ix always appear in such great numbers (the word "Ix" means simply "Many" in their tongue) that they can, if unchecked, completely annihilate any opposition, shielded or not.
