Demons feed on energy drained from living souls. Each one possesses a special amulet designed to capture and store this energy. An amulet that survives its owner's destruction falls to the ground. Grab it before it disappears to absorb its power.
Soul energy is commonly used by Sorcerors to power their magical effects and enchant items.
Demons are normally content to devour souls delivered to them by natural means (i.e. deaths of creatures on other planes). It's been speculated that their current attack may be the result of a food shortage in their home planes.
