Magic Arrow is the most basic combat spell in a Sorceror's repertoire. Through force of will, the Sorceror projects a dart of magical force in a desired direction. The Arrow is far more deadly than any physical weapon could be, and is even capable of harming Demons and other outer planar creatures.
As an unrefined extension of a Sorceror's mental might (and, in the case of the undisciplined, rage), the Magic Arrow causes little stress to the user's psyche and can be prepared with minimal effort.
The fact that a Sorceror can single-handedly destroy an entire army using his most basic of spells explains why the Apprentice must pass a year's worth of ethical and moral tests before even beginning training.
